Was This Review Helpful To You? #14: Wii Would Like to Play!

Your eyes do not deceive you, yes, it is a brand new edition of "Was This Review Helpful To You?" The last one I did was hastily slapped together last November. So, this one I put a little more thought into it.

For those unaware, Was This Review Helpful To You? makes fun of some of the reviews posted on Amazon.com. On Amazon.com, basically anyone that knows how to type can write a review. Some of them are pretty impressive and some of them are a complete joke. I,of course, pick out the complete joke of a review. They don't provide any information as to why they like or not like something. They go on totally unrelated to the actual product tangents (e.g. "Lars Ulrich is a greedy douche bag. Metallica's ...And Justice For All gets 1 Star!") The grammar may be horrible. It could be anything. If it totally taints a review, that is where I come in!

Recently, as some of my readers know, I got a Nintendo Wii. WOO! Well, now I am doing research on what games have gotten overwhelming good reviews, and find out why games that got negative reviews got those reviews.

So, I went to Amazon.com because you get a good mixture of both hardcore gamers and casual gamers. I used to be a hardcore gamer, but I've fallen to kind of in the middle over the years for my own personal sanity's sake.

However, doing my research, after finding the Wii Fit review that you will be seeing, I got inspiration to compile a new edition of this column! So here we go!

Mario Kart Wii

this game suck By J. Bailey "MGB"

this game is the best game ever but it gets u so mad i played and beat all the cups besides 1 the lightning cup and i got so pissed off because every 5 seconds i get shot off a cliff and get in last so i broke the tv and the wii itself but i dont care because it is protected and i got another one. so overall this game is fun and besides i went to [...] and beat the game so screw u, u stupid game i just easily cheated. so buy this game but do not get into it because all u will do is get pissed and break something.

Was This Review Helpful To You? Wow, I agree with one of the comments on this review. This is the best game review EVER!

Bravo, though, for you awesome anger and impulse control. It rawks!

Although, I can say that Mario Kart Wii can get VERY frustrating, but its still a lot of fun.

Twitter Insanity #1

GOOD OLE' TWITTER!

What is Twitter? Well, they are "Mini Blogs" where you post very short 1 to 2 second blog entires. How these people managed to market this shit and make it as successful as it is should be one of the first lessons of internet marketing.

I mean, the blog market is already flooded with bullshit, such as this blog you are reading right now! The thing, I actually have a decent readership, but I know it could all go away tomorrow.

So it is my random estimation that 97% of all blogs are barely even worth reading. Now we get Twitter and now everyone wants to tell you about every minor insignificant event of their day...

Seriously, to blog to the point where you have to tell the world your current status is every minute of every day is just a little fucking insane, don't you think? And its not crap that's even remotely interesting, you know. Its "I just had Taco Bell! The service there is SO SLOOOOWWW!" and "Now I'm taking a shit!"

Nobody gives a flying fuck about what I am doing 2 pm on Tuesday, and I am not pretentious enough to even expect them to. Why should I give a shit about what they are doing as well?

Daily Articles

Freaky Reviews From Energy Drink Fiends

I've never really been into the energy drink thing too much. Why? For one, the majority of them taste worse than Robitussin. Second, for as shitty as they taste, they are horrible expensive. Third, many of them can have pretty bad side effects. I mean, your body isn't meant to get Energy out of a can. I'm a caffeine addict myself, and some of these drinks kind of scare me cause I've heard reports of people going to the hospital and such. Sheesh!

Now, I am not saying I am dietition, a personal trainer, or a doctor by any stretch. Let us face it, it doesn't take a doctor to realize that there is no such thing as a subsitute for sleep.

Having an occasional energy drink on exam days or more recently, in my case, doing wedding planning till late at night, is at least understandable. Maybe not condonable, but one can understand how you got there.

For instance, the other day after a long night of sorting through so much crap, I got like 5 hours of sleep, which my norm is 8. I decided to pick up the Chaser 5 Hour Energy Shot. I figured "Hey, its only 2 ounces, so if it tastes like crap, I don't have to endure an entire can."

Some of the Worst Motivational Posters Found

The internet is home to many strange phenomenas. One of them is the "de-motivational poster." They have basically taken over a section of the internet. They are a satire of those posters you will see that hang in your office or your school hallway that are supposed to provide generic inspiring words.

Some of them are pretty damn funny, but some of them outright suck. I am going to be covering a few of them that just outright suck.

Our first one...

Judging by the picture, the image was made by the guy in the picture, and he has probably fried himself on one too many drugs to make any damn sense.

The WORST of LOLCats

LOLCats have basically taken over a section of the internet. Why? Still not really too sure on that. Some of them are pretty funny, but some of them outright suck.

Now, what is an LOLCat. Well, let us use WikiPedia's opening paragraph on what an LOLCat is:

"Lolcat is a term used to describe an image combining a photograph of an animal, most frequently a cat, with a subjectively humorous and idiosyncratic caption in broken English referred to as Kitty Pidgin, or lolspeak. The idea originated on 4chan imageboards as Caturday. The name "lolcat" is a compound word of "lol" and "cat". The phenomenon is also referred to as cat macros. Lolcats are created for photo sharing imageboards and other internet forums. Lolcats are similar to other anthropomorphic animal-based image macros such as the O RLY? owl."

There, now you know what it is. As I have stated, some are fucking awesome, but many are pretty bad. It begs the question, "What the fuck were they thinking?"

For instance, this one:

This would be great if, you k now, you could see the damn cat!

The Spam Has Arrived on Last.FM

I have to admit that I love Last.FM. Over the last 7 or so odd months, I have been really enjoying discovering new music.

For those of you unaware, Last.FM is a social network centered around your music listening. It tracks what you listen to and recommends new artists. You can also generate your own radio stations similar to how Pandora does it, but I think they do it a little bit better.

I've done the social networking thing for a few years now. I know the score by now.

However, I was saddened to see this in my inbox the other day.

Simply irresistable!

It is the infamous MySpace spammers all over again! Only now I can deal with these dumbshits on Last.FM. My favorite line is "I think you and I should probably be friends, cause you seem pretty fun, and possibly cute! (it's so tough to tell in this digital world :)"

Well, the only reason I find that line to be entertaining is that because THIS is my profile pic:

Daily Articles

Was This Review Helpful To You? #13: Billboard Charts

Your eyes do not deceive you, it is a brand new edition of "Was This Review Helpful To You?"

However, sometimes I pick out my favorites as well, but I will note that in my comments.

Lets face it, the music that is in the Top Billboard Charts, for the most part, sucks! Its good marketing that gets them there, not good music. In fact, I wanted to take a look at the reviews of some of these albums to see if maybe I am missing something. ;-)

Chase and Raina Watts: Worst. MySpace. Ever.

UPDATE 11.18.2007 READ AT THE BOTTOM

UPDATE 11.16.2007 READ AT THE BOTTOM

(MySpace People #16)

It has been awhile, but we are back with a traditional MySpace People!

For those of you whom still live in the internet cave, MySpace is a community site that you can sign up. You get seemingly unlimited space for pictures, and you work on setting up your own MySpace page. You have a wall that people write comments on. You add friends. The more friends you have, the cooler you are! You also get your own blog that pretty much nobody reads unless you actively promote your posts. The other thing MySpace specializes in is finding underground bands. Some WYLFWT.com featured bands such as This Burning Earth can all can be found on MySpace.

I am going to admit, I haven't written a traditional MySpace People in awhile because I just haven't been really inspired to look for the same old freaks. THAT WAS UNTIL THE OTHER DAY. Ladies and gentlemen, if there is only ONE bad MySpace Profile you visit this entire year, you have to make it this one!

This is just... well, this is bad!

Daily Articles

10 Tips For Designing a Better MySpace Profile

(MySpace People #15)

This MySpace People is going to be a little different this time around.

I have been online in one form or another since 1992! I first started using the world wide web in 1995 and designed my first web page in 1996. While I am not a professional nor have I ever been to any classes, I can tell you a thing or two from my 15 years of experience.

Since MySpace evolved, we get a lot of people who "pimp out" their profile. While doing this, they make some very basic mistakes you learn NOT to make in your 5th lesson in HTML 101 Class. I mean, it took me a long time to accept the fact that users can have a song automatically be playing on their profile (That is usually considered "rude.")

So, I have come up with a list of 10 basic tips for users on MySpace when it comes to designing your profile. This is especially if you want people to keep visiting and commenting on your page.

Here are the tips:

Daily Articles

MySpace People #14

It has been five months, but please welcome back to MySpace People!

In fact, WYLFWT.com has an account at http://www.myspace.com/wylfwtdotcom.

Yes, it has been quite awhile. I just haven't found much time to do this column because of how carefully formated it has always had to be. However, I am hoping to remedy that issue here with screenshots instead of copying and pasting the tables. Saves time on processing and cleaning up HTML, that's for sure!

Daily Articles

Flare Time 36 / Was This Review Helpful To You? #12

Hey, this is FlareHolyMeteo here with another Flare Time. This time, I've decided to do my own little edition of "Was This Review Helpful To You?" in this crossover column! I did it mostly on bands that I like (New Found Glory being the exception...death to EMO!) I also do a bit of a political rant at the very end.

Was This Review Helpful To You? #11: Classic Movies!

Yes! This column is actually back since the last edition dates all the way back to February! We are back with what is hopefully the return of this monthly column.I want to thank Amazon.com for adding the option to sort reviews by "Least Helpful." That just makes finding the bad reviews that much faster!

For those unaware, Was This Review Helpful To You? makes fun of some of the reviews posted on Amazon.com. On Amazon.com, basically anyone that knows how to type can write a review. Some of them are pretty impressive and some of them are a complete joke. I, of course, pick out the complete joke of a review.

Daily Articles

MySpace People #13

Yes! Welcome back to MySpace People! I am your rejuvenated host, Mister RJ45 Himself, Richard Jackson!

For those of you whom still live in the internet cave, MySpace is a community site that you can sign up.
In fact, WYLFWT.com has an account at http://www.myspace.com/wylfwtdotcom. Well, we DID have it at http://www.myspace.com/wylfwtcom. BUT...pretty much every useful feature broke on the account for no real reason whatsoever. Not that I tried getting MySpace's Useless Tech Support to fix it.

Was This Review Helpful To You? #10

Hey, its that time again! I frequent Amazon.com to find good writers. Its the one place where anyone can write a review and have it count, as opposed to a site like Rotten Tomatoes where they only depend on "critics." You know, the people who hate everything because their work has become just a job after all of these years as opposed to being a passion?

Over the course of looking for good writers, I have ran into some, well, rather crappy reviews. That is where this column comes in. There is no theme for this edition, these are just bad reviews I have collected over the past 2 weeks.

We all know that Amazon.com is a great place to find product reviews. However, some of the reviews I find are just...well...not right. Whether they are completely irrelevant, don't even mention the product at all, poorly written, or leave me speechless. This edition is some randomness. Since our opposition's position is about "bad reviews," I think it is time for a little education on what a bad review really is in this edition of Was This Review Helpful to You?

Daily Articles

MySpace People #12 - RJ vs. The Fake Profiles

Welcome everybody to the most popular MySpace Column on the internet named "MySpace People"...MySpace People! This one is called "RJ vs. The Fake Profiles." RJ45 is here for what surely will be some good times!

Last time on MySpace People, RJ45 was up to his usual shanigans when I created a fake profile just to see what kind of crazy messages I get. It was not meant to be a "spam" profile that is covered in this edition. That was meant to be a "real" person Well, in this edition, I deal with the fake profiles that you are all used to. The ones that try to sell you something. Most try to sell singles websites. Some try to sell quiz-websites for some stupid reason. No matter what, they are annoying and they should die. Well, since I can't make them die, I figured, why not cover it in a column. You see, since they took the time to write me, I will take the time to write them!

Daily Articles

Was This Review Helpful To You? #9 - War Time!

WYLFWT.com is in war right now. As I like to quote the great George Carlin, "We like war! We are war-like people!" Our last war was with a bunch of crazy-ass Juggalos. They have never posted a response since that was posted. NEVER.

What does it take to start a war with WYLFWT.com? Generally, it takes someone to do something so outlandish to a member here, that it catches my attention. People can pick on me. I really don't give a rats ass. But, when you mess with one of the family, you mess with all of us. The first shot was fired when a troll, for no reason whatsoever, randomly got JP's reviews taken down out of sheer jealously. "She" states it because JP's reviews are bad. We all know that is because JP's reviews are much more successful than "her's."

Daily Articles

MySpace People #11 - The Fake Profile

Hey everybody. We're back again with another edition of The Weird. The Perverted. The Stupid. The MySpace People! This one is going to be one I know that you are going to totally love. This one, hopefully, will go down in history.

For those of you whom still live in the internet cave, MySpace is a community site that you can sign up. You get seemingly unlimited space for pictures, and you work on setting up your own MySpace page. You have a wall that people write comments on. You add friends. The more friends you have, the cooler you are!

The other thing they are also known for is MySpace pervs, cyberstalkers, and weirdoes...which no doubt provides everyone with an endless resource of material...which is what MySpace People is all about! The Place for Freaks!

Was This Review Helpful To You? #8 - Halloween

Wow, two of these in one month! Could this be the start of Was This Review Helpful To You? becoming a more regular column? Who knows.

Halloween is coming up, and with that wonderful day just around the corner, the best horror flicks of the year get released during the month of October. This year, we are treated to the latest in The Grudge, Saw, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series respectfully. So, I felt it was only appropriate to provide you with

They go on totally unrelated to the actual product tangents (e.g. "Lars Ulrich is a greedy douche bag.

"RJ! In response to your last Was This Review Helpful To You?, I have to say that I'm a part-time Juggalo myself and I feel you were a bit too hard on them."

Okay, okay...I give! I really do. WTRHTY? is dedicated to making fun of stupid fans of any fanbase. So, to be fair, in this edition, I am going to make fun of the stupid fans of my personal fanbases!

Foir those unaware, Was This Review Helpful To You? makes fun of some of the reviews posted on Amazon.com. On Amazon.com, basically anyone that knows how to type can write a review. Metallica's ...And Justice For All gets 1 Star!") The grammar may be horrible. There is anything that could totally taint a review, and that is where I come in!

The other thing they are also known for is MySpace pervs, cyber stalkers, and weirdoes...which no doubt provides everyone with an endless resource of material...which is what MySpace People is all about! The Place for Freaks!

Was This Review Helpful To You? #6 - Juggalos

I got a Xanga mostly to see what is the latest with Ayannah aka HauntedByArrows. She's a long time friend of mine since the 4th grade. She also lives two states away. So, I participated in a few comments AND...

Apparently, I've pissed off some Juggalos.

"What the fuck?!" Yup, Juggalos people. For those of you whose memory doesn't go back that far, a Juggalo is part of a family that worships the ground ICP walks on.

"What the fuck?!" Yeah, the Insane Clown Posse! You might remember them from when they co-headlined Night 1 of Woodstock '99. I remember 5iN & Mortis dressing up as Juggalos during Homecoming week back in the day. I remember a long running and totally dumb joke we had about the wrestler Dean Malenko and the song Great Milenko (Dean Malenko! HA HA HA HA HA!). Yeah, probably not as funny as it had any right to be back then. ICP are also probably the best backyard wrestlers of all time.

Was This Review Helpful To You? #5 - You're So EMO!

You know what, I don't even feel like writing today. Why? I can't stop itching over thoughts of tarnished hope. Kinda funny lonely feeling. I'm not in love. You know it's not love. Don't make it look so pretty burning God, I'm so EMO.

Just kidding. As many of you know, I am not a big fan of EMO music. Outside of a few bands such as Underoath, I am just not that impressed. In my opinion, EMO is the result of two things. One is new age parenting where kids are allowed to basically do whatever they want. The other is the result of people highly critical of men for never expressing their feelings. So, now they express them all the time without giving them the least moment of even trying to be a man. So what do you get? Crappy Music!

Every decade gives birth to music that we are all mildly embarrassed about. However, to its credit, we still consider it a guilty pleasure. The 50s had Doo Wap. The 60s had The Monkees (and other horrible Beatles knock-offs!). The 70s had Disco. The 80s had Big Hair. The 90s had Nu-Metal. I think the 2000s great embarrassment will be EMO.

I guess the most important tidbit you are going to need to need to know so you can follow this a bit better and know why she is getting messaged SO MANY TIMES is that she is bisexual.
MySpace People #2 - RJ vs. The Spammers

Welcome everyone back to the 2nd edition of RJ45's MySpace People! The first edition turned out to be an instant success! Thanks to everyone!

MySpace is a yet-another community site where everyone can sign up and join. You get seemingly unlimited space for pictures, music, and videos. You have a comment wall that people, well, write comments on. You add all of your friends to your friends list. The more friends you have, the cooler you are! You also get your own blog that pretty much nobody reads, unless you actively promote your post. The other thing it specializes in is finding underground bands. TJ Brown, Bellikose, Kellum, and Digital Rome can all be found on MySpace. MySpace is also working on hosting underground filmmakers...which is something I will eventually get around to setting up for WYLFWT?

Last edition. I simply gave you various MySpace freaks that I had found. In this edition, I take on the other thing that MySpace is known for...THE SPAMMERS.

Daily Articles

Was This Review Helpful To You? #4 - Limp Bizkit Is In Da House

Every generation we have music artists that, for whatever unexplainable reason, was REALLY HUGE at the time. The sales broke the charts in half. However, within a few years, these very same artists become the punch line. They become an answer in Trivial Pursuit. They become immortal in their own unique and rather sub par way. Examples include Milli Vannilli, David Cassidy, Vanilla Ice, Barry Manilow, Poison, Billy Ray Cyrus, Hammer, and oh so many more. They make the public think to themselves, "What the bloody hell where we thinking?!"

My generation's artist is none other than LIMP BIZKIT. A band so bad that the people who discovered them, KoRn, has issued many different public apologies. It may not necessarily be the music that made Limp Bizkit so awful. It was more rather the manic-depressive attitude of the everybody's favorite vocalist, Fred Durst. See, Fred Durst prided himself on not being sellout and that he was "cool," despite the fact the bands breakout performance was a cover of 1999 on an MTV New Year's Special.

MySpace People #1 - Inaugural Edition!

Hey everybody, it is RJ45 again. Well, I have a highly successful Fun With Image Search, and then "I am not sure if it is successful" Reviews I Found on Amazon.com. In that same vein, I think/know I have a hit this time. MySpace People!

"Hey, RJ. I live in the proverbial internet equivalent of a cave, What is MySpace?"

CENSORED on Amazon.com

You got The Pick again, and this is the skinny. This time it is in regards to "animal cruetly."

Around a year or two ago, I decided to pick up a Rabbit Fur Hat off of Amazon.com to get through some of the recent cold winters. Let me tell you, there was no heat escaping this head. I posted a review on Amazon.com for this excellent product. You must keep in mind that there already were such consummate reviews as this:

"I do not think using animals for fur is cruel in itself. In fact, I wore fur less than a year ago, but I stopped wearing it when I learned how much cruelty the animals actually endure, and saw actual video footage of it. I guess thinking intense cruelty to animals is wrong and trying to inform others on what happens to the animals makes me annoying. Fine, I guess I am annoying (note the sarcasm)."

Was This Review Helpful To You? #3 - RJ45- Rants

Hey, we are back with Was This Review Helpful To You? I am hoping that this edition will help the column find its feet. The entire basis of this column is similar to "Fun With Image Search." I find some of the worst reviews you find on Amazon.com, and just post them here with my usual comments ala Fun With Image Search.

Amazon.com is a great place to find product reviews. However, some of the reviews I find are just...well...not right. Whether they are completely irrelevant, don't even mention the product at all, poorly written, or leave me speechless. In this edition, in an effort to possibly propel WTRHTY?, I am going to try a small rant after each review, and see how that goes.

It tears you into shreads!

Was This Review Helpful To You? #2 - The Music of RJ-45

    Welcome to...TALES...From a Call Center!

For the past 12 months, I have published a newsletter to my co-workers. This covered some of the craziest and wackiest calls or situations that I have encountered. It has evolved and became such a hit that its hard passing it up here.

Of course, I have to edit it a bit. For one, I have to remove all instances of the name of our company, any company lingo/jargon, and changed any names of my co-workers if they are mentioned. However, the basic content is still there and not butchered in the least bit. I will publish all 12 periodically over the next month.

THE INTERNET SUPPORT BEST OF JAN 2005

Hey guys, you know me and my favorite calls. Honestly, the customers provide more entertainment for me than anything else on this job. So I decided to keep my best notes and send them on to you!

Daily Articles

Was This Review Helpful To You? (Reviews I Found On Amazon.com) #1

Welcome to another new column that pokes fun at the laughable internet.

As far as I am concerned, with any kind of product, Amazon.com is the perfect starting point for the internet. You can get similar products, reviews, and what have you. I used this website sometimes to get familiar with new rock bands. There are some rather helpful reviews...

...and then then are the other reviews...

The Juno Sound (The Pick) from RJ-NET.BLOG decided to put out a satire of literally every bad video game Amazon.com review. He actually posted this. If you have an Amazon.com account, I urge you to vote "Yes" for this review being helpful.

-----

The Product was Mr.

Daily Articles
