The Blasphemy Challenge

In case you haven’t seen it:
Its actually managed to get in the news a few times as well. The idea is that atheists deny the existence of God. According to the bible, this is an unforgivable sin and they must go to hell. If you do this, you may win a free copy of Brian Flemming’s awesome The God Who Wasn’t There.
Many of the Christian’s responses to this are obviously filled with bewilderment. It usually goes something like:
- If you really don’t believe in God, why would you go through all the trouble of posting a video to deny him? These people are obviously so indoctrinated that its impossible for them to see through the eyes of one who isn’t Christian. In case you’re confused, the idea is that these atheists are so positive in their belief that God doesn’t exist, that they are wagering their souls on it. It’s not a statement of hating God, its a statement of confidence that He doesn’t even exist.- This is sick. Why would anyone want to go to Hell?
- If you don’t believe in the Holy Spirit, then how can you deny him?
As for “Why would anyone want to go to Hell?” Christians aren’t afraid of the Three Fates from Greek mythology going after them in their sleep, are they? No. So it’d be pretty easy for a Christian to deny The Fates’ existence and bet their life on it, would it? Well… kind of. An interesting thing I’ve noticed is that the majority of Christians aren’t Christians because they actually believe in God, but because they fear Hell. These types of Christians are generally very superstitious. The type of people that won’t say Bloody Mary three times in front of a mirror, even though they may actually doubt in her existence as a ghost. So actually, I really believe that these people won’t deny in the existence of the Three Fates. Maybe I should start my own Greek Blasphemy Challenge?

Great Challenge
I am a Christian with multiple atheist friends, and I think this challenge is invaluable to anyone open-minded enough to think it through. Atheists do not believe what you do, so you need to look at it from their perspective before ridiculing them for "wanting to go to Hell". I am a Christian because I believe there is some form of higher power, and my chosen manifestation of that power is the Christian God. I am NOT Christian because I fear Hell. Everyone out there needs to keep an open mind and accept that different people think differently.
