Was This Review Helpful To You? #11: Classic Movies!

Internet Insanity

Yes! This column is actually back since the last edition dates all the way back to February! We are back with what is hopefully the return of this monthly column.I want to thank Amazon.com for adding the option to sort reviews by "Least Helpful." That just makes finding the bad reviews that much faster!

For those unaware, Was This Review Helpful To You? makes fun of some of the reviews posted on Amazon.com. On Amazon.com, basically anyone that knows how to type can write a review. Some of them are pretty impressive and some of them are a complete joke. I, of course, pick out the complete joke of a review. They don't provide any information as to why they like or not like something. They go on totally unrelated to the actual product tangents (e.g. "Lars Ulrich is a greedy douche bag. Metallica's ...And Justice For All gets 1 Star!") The grammar may be horrible. It could be anything. If it totally taints a review, that is where I come in!

The theme of this edition is... Classic Movies. WYLFWT.com's Pop Culture section has been slowly taking on a life of its own, and one of our best sections there is the movies section. Why? I owe it ALL to JP Paxton, our premiere movie critic. Him and a few other alternative critics for those who want a second opinion have made this section great! So, I will post some classic all-time great movies and their not so great reviews.

Casablanca

"Play it again, Sam.",

A Kid's Review

"Play it again, Sam" was never said in the movie. She just says "Play it, Sam."

Was this Review Helpful To You?  Wow, that told me everything there is to know about Casablanca AND more.

Rocky (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Great movie, November 10, 2006

By: Craig H. Rawding

Rocky is a great movie. I'm looking forward to seeing all the extras on this edition. I don't mind that they're upgrading to a 2 disc edition.

Was this Review Helpful To You?  Wow, so you are reviewing a DVD you either don't have or haven't completely watched yet? SWEET! Hook me up!

Superman - The Movie

Not bad, but lacks personality and makes a few mistakes

By J. Giles "kingcrusher"

Superman is great in this version (they tried to get him to act just like Christopher Reeves, and did a good job), but Ms. Lane is horrible. She is very beautiful, but lacks the personality of the Lane from the originals.
Everything about the story is solid and fun, except for the little love triangle between Superman, Lane, and her live-in boyfriend(?!) Her son was obvious from the start, but it was fun.
Besides the lack of personality in Ms. Lane, and the lame love-triangle, the show was very good. I recommend at least watching it to see Superman back in action.

Was this Review Helpful To You? Okay, who wants to say it first? Okay... I will..

WRONG MOVIE DUMBASS!

Titanic wow

By: gabsterzz "sodope"

I know people that watched this movie like 5 times in the theater hahha. It really is a great film. I liked it a lot eventhough it had me in tears. I dont think I know someone that hasnt watched it.

Was this Review Helpful To You? Wow, this person makes a DANGEROUS assumption in the review. First of all, who here hasn't watched the movie? I am pretty sure A LOT, some probably on the basis of principal. I saw it once in theaters and once on VHS. Me? I thought it was good but not worthy of 200 Academy Awards or whatever it ended up getting.

Citizen Kane Rose...but?

By: M. Uppet "Uppy"

I have seen many movies in my time, and this not one of them. I have "borrowed" this movie from my boss countless times and have never viewed it. Despite this, I feel that this film should be couted among the greatest films of our time. While I personally deplore Mr.Welles and his mop people, this film is so wonderful that I can overlook my feelings and say "Whozaa!" and "Hallelujah". Anyone who looks at the puzzles in this film and is not brought to tears is truly without feeling. My only issue with this marvelous piece of filmage is that it is not longer. I could look at those puzzles forever.

Was this Review Helpful To You?  Hey M. Uppet, what did I say about having drugs? You are supposed to share! .

Deliverance This Is Not A Good Advertisement For Southern Hospitality!

By: John Baranyai "Book Nerd And Ex High School

I heard that the Tourist Industry down South suffered greatly as a result of this film back in 1972. This movie is about 4 city guys who canoe down the rapids . On their way to the river they meet a kid who is good at banjo pickin' but then they encounter two guys who have a fondness for pork and then everything goes haywire. I give this movie 5 stars because thankfully Jon, Burt and Ned went on the much better roles.

Was this Review Helpful To You?  Okay, so you gave this movie 5 stars because of the stars OTHER movies? What the hell? I think your review gave me a better impression of the tourist industry than it did of the movie Deliverance!

This Edition's Extra: Effectively the Worst CD Collection Ever

Listamania is always fun. Some people like to put their own collections of whatever in a list. I have EFFECTIVELY THE WORST CD COLLECTION EVER. I removed the CDs that one wouldn't consider horrible. By that, that includes Aerosmith, U2, The Police, and Madonna... Yikes, that's the BEST of the lot!

So, I challenge you to find a CD collection worse than this.

My Music Collection

A Listmania! list by Curli "Bookworm" (Michigan)

1.  Naked and Sacred by Phillips, Chynna

Curli says: "My first CD along with the one below it."

4.  Tears for Fears - Tears Roll Down: Greatest Hits 82-92 by Tears For Fears
7.  Whitesnake by Whitesnake
11.  Cars - Greatest Hits by The Cars
13.  Great Expectations (1998 Film) by Various Artists - Soundtracks - 1998
14.  Spiceworld by Spice Girls
15.  My Best Friend's Wedding: Music From The Motion Picture by David, Hal
16.  Daydream by Carey, Mariah
22.  N Sync by 'N Sync
23.  Titanic: Music from the Motion Picture (1997) by Horner, James
24.  Back To Titanic by Horner, James
27.  Songbook: A Collection of Hits by Yearwood, Trisha
28.  Millennium by Backstreet Boys
31.  Backstreet Boys [ENHANCED CD] by Backstreet Boys
32.  One Fine Day: Music From The Motion Picture by Various Artists - Soundtracks - 1996
33.  98 Degrees & Rising by 98 Degrees
34.  Heart Shaped World by Andrews, Jessica
37.  ...Baby One More Time [ENHANCED CD] by Spears, Britney
40.  Aquarius by Aqua

So to some that up we have Aqua, Spice Girls, 98 Degrees, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, N'Sync, Mariah Carey, and some pretty bad soundtracks. Yeah, this is awful.

That pretty much does it for today! I believe Flare might be taking the next edition, next week. No promises.

As per usual, feedback is always appreciated!
