Fun With Image Search #25 - Bad Album Art, Part 1

Fun With Images

Welcome to Fun With Image Search #25! I am taking on a slightly different format this time around as I like to mix things up once in awhile. Don't worry, the classic format isn't going away forever as I am sure I will no doubt return to that within a few editions. I just wanted to have a little fun with this one.

This edition and probably at least the next one, I want to cover something we all love. That is music. Each and every one of us loves music. We have our favorite artists. When you follow your favorite artists, one of the most exciting moments is always the "new album." The new beats, singles, music videos, classics, and...THE ALBUM ART. Sometimes, we get an all-time classic. Sometimes, we get your average cover. Then...we get tragedies. This edition covers those absolute tragedies of album covers.

In a search for bad album art, I found it difficult because you seem to get the same ten covers on each web page. So, I wan to show you something different. I recently started this as a forum topic about two months ago and got some great submissions. So, I decided to add on to it. So, here are TEN bad album covers! Not the top ten, by any means, just ten, and in no particular order!

1. "Speak of the Devil" by Ozzy Osbourne

Yeah, that's not in the least bit too over the top... NOT AT ALL!

2. "Chocolate Star Fish & the Hot Dog Flavored Water" by Limp Bizkit

Bad name. Bad music. Bad art...

3. "Unboxed" by Sammy Hagar

As Homoerotic as it gets, and since when did people associate Sammy Hagar with Boxing?! Sure "Unbox" but...come on, you can go maybe a little more abstract...just a little....please?

3. "Freek Show" by Twiztid

Ran across this during my research for the "War Time!" article. This one still looks like its trying to be digesting...but really comes off rather tacky and funny.

5. "Look Who the Cat Dragged in" by Poison

Classic 80s "band members on the cover" album art...but the "glitter and glam" seems more transvestite rather than actual glam.

6. "Balance" by Van Halen

I have ALWAYS hated this cover with a passion. IT still freaks me out till this very day. I mean, what the hell man!

7. "Get a Grip" by Aerosmith

    Uhhh...yeah...

8. "Sabotage" by Black Sabbath

Oh no! Sabbath goes disco! NNNOOOO!!!

(Note: Suggested by Captain_Spaulding)

9. "Dancing With Death" by Iron Maiden

Poorly composed in Poser, a 3D Rendering program. It definitely looks like they took the album title just a little too literal when making this god awful cover. Thy could have just left it at Death and not the 800 dancing people.

(Note: Suggested by Brynna)

10. "Lovesexy" by Prince

There are so many bad Prince covers. In this one, he tries to be artistically nude, but why is he covering his chest? He doesn't have boobs. What the bloody hell, man?!

5 Good Art Artists...

We will also list artists that don't have any real blemishes on studio album art. In other words, bad single art and bad live album art do not count towards their great selection.

1. The Moody Blues - From Days of Future Past to Strange Times, these old rockers have an excellent selection of album art.
2. Insane Clown Posse - I may not like their music, personally, but I am going to give them props for having awesome album art.
3. KoRn - Not a single bad album art, at all.
4. Journey - I know they have probably done all the variations of the Scarab, possible (although I am sure they will prove me wrong next album), but they are all rather cool looking. As far as the art goes, at least check them out.
5. Metallica - Even their more hated albums still had interesting album art.

Till part two, guys! Feedback is ALWAYS appreciated!
