WAMPA! #9: The Carbonite That Binds

Hey all, I know it has been quite a while....since my last Wampa post. I am back!!! Freshly thawed from the Carbonite that had me bound for what seemed like an eternity. My topic, if you haven't figured it out this week is going to be one of my favorite Star Wars personalities....Han Solo! Scoundrel to some, Smuggler to all....and long time holder of the Kessel Run record across the entire Galactic Empire! He has outrun large starships, and not the Correlian Bulk cruisers mind you, I am talking Imperial Star Destroyers.

He has outrun and outsmarted Jabba the Hutt on a few occasions, and has taught us all the flying through hyperspace ain't like dustin' crops....fly to close to a planet or an asteroid and your trip would end up being really short. So to Han Solo, I thank you for those words of wisdom. We all know the love of Han's life.....no, not Chewbacca....(sheesh). Princess Leia, not really a princess since she was adopted by Bail Organa after she was born, is the famous smuggler's object of love and affection. They eventually get married as some of you know, and they end up having twins, by the name of Jacen and Jaina. They also have a 3rd child that they name Anakin.

By this time most of you would have thought that Han would have settled down being that he dropped his smuggler's ways and gave all his time to the Rebel Alliance, but when the Yuuzhan Vong came to light several years after the fall of the Emperor....Han and Chewie were both back in action right along side Leia, Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo. Unfortunately this ended darkly for Chewbacca and Anakin Solo as they both died at the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong before the New Jedi Order and the New Republic armies hand a chance to completely destroy the Invading hostile Vong forces, and wipe them from the new empire.

One of the things that always made me yearn for more story from Han Solo was the fact that after years of chasing Han Solo, Boba Fett....Solo's Nemesis had gone through literal hell to try and catch his long-time target. He had taken one memorable trip into the Pit of Carkoon, when Luke freed Han, Leia and Chewie from Jabba the Hutt, and once again when Boba was chasing Han through the Jundland Wasteland. The second time, Boba's associate and friend Dengar, a fellow bounty hunter, who keeps himself wrapped in cloth almost like a mummy, rescued him and nursed him back to health. This time around with unknown determination and a grit that no one could hold to, Boba Fett finally cornered Han on a remote location, and ultimately saw himself inside Han Solo's life, and let him go.

Sadly, it was due more to the fact that Boba was worse for wear....a lot worse off than Han Solo had ever been. But they seemed to put aside their differences and at one time actually fought for the same cause.
