KiP v2 #27 - EMO vs. Goth

Well, I am goth 'n all, but I don't see the problem with emos really, I mean, there's sad people and pissed off people, and being emo doesn't necesarily mean you're depressed or whine all day. Whether you like it or not, there are people out there who whine like no other mother and aren't emo at all. Being emo, or goth or punk doesn't change who you naturally are unless you're some kind of irrational idiot who thinks they have to act because they're this or that. So, emo doesn't mean anything except a style nowadays to dress as, and there is emo music, short for emotional of course, but I'm really not into that stuff. I prefer old fashioned metal before it expired like that. I don't like emotional music, it's like a deformation of hip hop, and rock mixed together to create a disabled fetus of scum. Or something like that. Not anything against emo, just the retarded music people use to stereotype them with. Emo, is mainly a stupid stereotype some people decided to associate with cutting, poetry, and whining. which if anyone had a brain in their head, they'd realize really doesn't make sense becuse they never knew one.

My Chemical Romance may have "abondoned" emo.

But they didn't DROP it.

They left behind the posers, cutters, and suicidals, the "old" emo and began a new age.

The new emo is a breed of style, a mindset.

MCR is a big part of the new Emotionalism movement of the 00's.

I expect that emo will be huge in the coming 10's

Goths do not worship the Christian Devil. For just as many Satanists you find in the Goth scene you will find an equal number of Christians, Catholics, Jews, Wiccans, Shamans, Buddists, and other assorted religious types. Most are Agnostic or Atheist.

The evolution of Goth is as follows. We start off with a bunch of angry kids in 1970s Britain who are frustrated with the fact that the world is run by a bunch of power mongers who don't give a shit about anyone or anything. These kids are rash and angry and are screaming hoping that if their voice is loud enough, someone will listen. As the years went on, these kids became adults and saw that all their screaming never got them anywhere. They decided to educate themselves and become part of the machine that they despise in an attempt to change it from within. The punk style evolved into something more fitting of their passions, hence the difficulty in nailing down what IS the Goth fashion style. Likely that 30 something IT guy in your building in a suit and tie every day goes home to listen to a copy of Sisters of Mercy and blogs about the Democratic Primaries. Generally when you see us on the street, you'd never know.

That's what most people don't realize. Emo is a style, and frankly one that makes life difficult for people around them. I for example find it hard to buy pants that aren't these ridiculous low riding tight legged jeans that I can't fit my ass or package into. And as the emo kid who thinks caps lock is cruise control to cool so eloquently put, Goth IS the polar opposite of Emo. Goth is a lifestyle and a frame of mind. It's about passion and saying to hell with the norm. It's about becoming a better person because we either are, or soon will be, the people in charge and we have a chance to change this world into something that doesn't suck. And we're frustrated because we're looking down at you, these emo kids who insist on emulating the voice of their generation instead of BECOMING the voice of their generation. I look at a bunch of high school kids wallowing in self pity about asinine bullshit and I want to scream at them. I want to yell at them that it doesn't matter if their now not so significant other broke up with them! I want to yell at them for getting bent out of shape over not getting that really nice car with the V8 because this gives them an opportunity to help save their future by talking their parents into getting them a hybrid! Most importantly, I want to fucking punch them in the face and scream at them "BUY SOME REAL FUCKING PANTS! YOU'RE SCREWING EVERYONE ELSE!"

Moron, you are most likely confusing goths for metalheads (evernthough goth is a style and metalhead is a profile) I have never seen a devil worshipping goth before, they are normaly too weak minded and docial and believe in crap like the toothefairy and jesus... pfft..

Goth to me isn't about clothes, make-up, boots, jewllery, etc, etc. Its more a way of life. You grow up knowing that you are difefrent from everyone else around you. You rad different things, listen to different things, weigh up different idea's, kinda knew somehow the world was messed up and needed to change ......... and more importantly.........accept others for who they are. After all, under all the make-up and clothes and other external stuff lies a real person with real feelings. It's like a little caption I have on a poster I have reagrding Goth and goths and the general view;
"Goth's are normal, just like you!!!"

I love reading blogs like this, they make me laugh out loud and nod in agreement or shake my head at those who cuss and spell badly against those who don't and do.
It makes me warm and fuzzy inside thinking that there are those out to defend their position in life and those willing to shoot them down- or at least try their hardest, and there are those who don't care either way and like to state how-it-is. Life. The most diverse topic and the most difficult.
Who cares whether you wear what your friends do or don't, your position on the government's power or not, your station in life or your beliefs...? You. And everyone who thinks they know better than you. Isn't life grand?
