There is an reemergence slowly happening in the underground of the metal scene. It is the return of old school heavy metal. The sound of bands like Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Accept, and more. One of the bands forging their path in that scene is Chicago’s Shokker. I personally got to witness them not only open for heavy metal legends, Queensryche at the Arcada Theatre on May 5th, but also receive a standing ovation from the crowd at the end of their show because they owned the stage.

Shokker

The Band and Music

“Shokker was formed in early 2011. Music reminiscent of the metal era of the late 70s, and 80s, Shokker has formed a perfect blend of classic and modern heavy metal. Rachl “Raxx” Quinn on vocals, guitar wizard Casey Tremont, Jorey Guillermo on bass, and Dan Dash pounding on the drums, Shokker is the lineup from hell.”

I must say, Rachl is an amazing vocalist. She really nails that era of music’s vocals down perfectly. Casey just shreds on guitars. The whole band is great.
